Aloha! :)

My own attempt at Gracie's name in the sand.

A beautiful sunset from our table at a restaurant.

Our little family at a real hawaiian luau.

Our family had the opportunity to go to Maui for 10 days the first part of July. We had a wonderful time relaxing and being together. It was our kids first time on an airplane and being anywhere tropical so they LOVED it!! We thought about our GG a lot and saw some very cute swimsuits and hula skirts that would have looked darling on our girl.

I continue to be thankful to all of you who continue to comment and send me emails. I read each and every one and wish I had time to respond to all of you. Some of you have shared with me life changing experiences you have had because of Gracie's blog, I save these and will remember them always. I appreciate it very much.

We passed the half million mark for people looking at this blog.....absolutely mind boggling. Some of you have come up to me in the store and introduced yourself and told me how touched you have been by Gracie's story, I enjoy meeting you and appreciate you letting me know who you are. All of your words of kindness help us to heal from the loss of sweet Gracie.

It wouldn't be Gracie's blog if I didn't include another quote. I thought this one was really good.
It is from President Thomas S. Monson,:

"Mortality is a period of testing, a time to prove ourselves worthy to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. In order to be tested, we must sometimes face challenges and difficulties. At times there appears to be no light at the tunnel's end—no dawn to break the night's darkness. We feel surrounded by the pain of broken hearts, the disappointment of shattered dreams, and the despair of vanished hopes. We join in uttering the biblical plea 'Is there no balm in Gilead?' (Jeremiah 8:22). We are inclined to view our own personal misfortunes through the distorted prism of pessimism. We feel abandoned, heartbroken, alone. If you find yourself in such a situation, I plead with you to turn to our Heavenly Father in faith. He will lift you and guide you. He will not always take your afflictions from you, but He will comfort and lead you with love through whatever storm you face."

Thomas S. Monson, "Looking Back and Moving Forward," Ensign, May 2008, 90

Looks like an awesome family vacation!! I love Gracie's name in the sand....makes me wonder how they don't leave any footprints while writing the names of these sweet angels for their families! I sure hope your family continues to relax and unwind after the long stresses you have had!

The Children have sure grown. I love the personal touch to Gracie's name in the sand. It's very therapeutic, but sad when the wave washes it away :(

Michele, I wrote Gracie's name in the sand in Yachats, Oregon this past week... I wasn't sure if you would like it or not, but I wanted you to know she was thought of coast to coast. When I return to the East coast, I'll be visiting Cape Elizabeth in Maine... I will write Gracie's name there too... just so you know... how your precious Gracie and your family touched my life.

I don't know that I will ever step foot on the sandy beaches with out tracing Gracie's name in the sand. It just belong there...

Thinking of you and your family, Livy

I am so glad you were able to get away and have some fun! Thank you for that beautiful quote by Pres. Monson. I actually read it on Paul Cardall's blog before I read it on yours. You two are both VERY inspirational, thank you. We miss you sweet Gracie!!!

I have followed little Gracie's story for a long time, and I'm not sure if I've ever commented. I felt like I was just another stranger and that you didn't need to hear from me. But, I just wanted to tell you what a beautiful family you have. I am so glad that you have the gospel and the knowledge that families are forever, however I know that there must be days when that knowledge doesn't seem to ease the pain very much. Thanks for sharing your beautiful baby girl with all of us. Your testimonies have strengthened mine. My little 5 year old girl prays for baby Gracie and her family. I hope that time will continue to ease the pain for you. I hadn't visited your site in quite a while, but I came across a wish on www.wishuponahero.com today from another mommy who lost their baby to HLHS, and is trying to get the money to get him a headstone, so I thought of your little Gracie girl and wanted to see how your sweet family was doing. All the best to each of you!

Someone had sent me over Paul Cardall's blog and through his blog I came across yours. Your family is beautiful and I am so sorry to hear about your "Gracie." My heart goes out to you and your family as we too had a "Gracie Girl" whom went to be home with the Jesus, January 9, 2008 due to heart faliure. I've been inspired by all your posts and love your last quote. It was perfect. Thank you for sharing your family and your beautiful story. May God continue to look over you all and place his peaceful hands upon you.
God Bless,
Terra

So glad to see you are all doing well. Hawaii! I am so jealous! I don't know you personally but I check back regularly to see how you are and I think of Gracie often. As a mother I cannot fathom the loss of my child. It especially hits home because I have a baby girl around Gracie's age. Although I know you will never stop missing your baby girl I am so glad to see that you can still live your life while incorporating Gracie's memory into each day. It is an example to me that should something happen to one of my children one day, my life would continue and I would not have to forget them in order to go on. I still pray for you and am so blessed to have been let into your lives. Thank you for sharing your sweet baby girl with all of us....

Oh Michele I hope you and your family had a great time!!! Not a day goes by that I don't think about your GG. Mason, Braiden, and I went to say Good Night to her the other night. We were driving by the cemetary on our way home and Braiden (my 6 year old) wanted to go see Gracie! She's touched so many. I love your quote and May just have to borrow it for Mason's blog. It fits our storm right now very well too!
Love and Hugs :-)

What a beautiful entry...Gracie's name in the sand and your family's footprints, Hawaii, relaxation, and one of the most inspirational quotes I've read. It was truly meant to be as one of my best friends is currently battling cancer for the 4th year and struggling, she's tired...I shared this quote with her and it changed her outlook significantly. She printed it out and put in on her fridge to continually remind her focus. I touched me beyond words as well...thank you for continuing to inspire us all. Blessings to you!

I am so glad to hear you were able to travel to a warm and realxing place. You really deserve it and I know that gg was with you the whole time. :) I had not read that quote from pres. Monson before now. my family has been going through difficulties the past couple of years and that touched me so much and made me really be grateful for the trial we had been facing, even though it has been very hard. Through all of it we have a date set to be sealed this next year! It is people like you and your family that i look up to for inspiration to know my family and I Are on the right path! Thanks so much!
