Last Halloween

After you loose a loved one, you can't help but reflect on the past when it comes to holidays. Tonight we will go to my dad's annual Halloween party and I can't help but think about last year when we had our little GG with us. She was so much fun and doing relatively well at the time, even though we had gotten the bad news that she would not be able to have her second surgery until the pressures in her heart went back down. Reflecting on her 11 short months here on earth, I can't help but feel the Lord's divine hand in our lives.
The doctor's pushed out her second surgery as far as they could. She was 7 months at the time of her Cath procedure and babies with her condition are supposed to have their second surgery between 4-6 months. Then when we got the bad news about the pressures in her heart being too high. They pushed it out FOUR MORE months which is really unheard of. She was 11 months old at the time she was supposed to have her pressures checked again and hopefully be eligible for surgery. Looking back, I realize that all of these 'delays' were just the gift of TIME given to us to be with our little girl, just a little longer. To have her for every holiday. Every single one: Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We even had her on Valentines Day even though she was in the hospital recovering from her stroke and waiting for her heart transplant. Memories of each of those holidays is all that I will have in my heart to remember her by.
I wanted to include a few pictures from last year. Three out of the four pictures I did not post last year. The first one I did, I couldn't resist reposting this one again. My little lamby with a shy smile. We miss you our little GG..........

The football player, doctor, fashionista and lamby.

Max and Gracie.

My sweet little girl.

My own Gracie has the same birthday and year as your Gracie. I pray for you and think of you every single day. I just made my blog private, but if you would like to follow it please email me at mommypsblog@hotmail.com

It seems so unfair that I have my Gracie here to hold in my arms and you don't. Please know that your loss makes me appreciate every minute I have with my sweet Grace.

What a beautiful little girl and gorgeous family! I absolutely love the connection she and Max had. Tell Max that is what he is "famous" for... adoring his little sister! You can see the immense love you all had for her!

I am so glad we have reconnected! I have thought about you and your family all last night and all today! Your attitude and outlook has had a profound impact on me... I definitely valued the little things much more today than I did yesterday. Thank you for teaching me to appreciate the little things and to be so incredibly grateful!

Love you!

She truly is one of the Lambs of His fold. My favorite song is "Consider the Lilies", sung at my little Mia's funeral. Your Gracie is so adorable and I know she is watching over her sweet mom and family. My prayers to you today as you remember her last Halloween. Love, Nicole - Mia's mom ^i^

It may seem as time passes that those of us who are strangers to you stop following Gracie's sweet story, but her life has forever impacted mine and I continue to draw strength from yours and from the legacy she left here. Thank you for continuing to post occasionally. My prayers are with you!

A memory for each holiday...which I know mean so much to you and your family. Never really thought of that. What a tender mercy from our Heavenly Father indeed.

Miss that little lamby goo! But her spirit is still so close and your home will always be a sacred place.

I know how difficult holidays can be after the death of someone you love and miss so deeply. I know you are grateful for the 11 months you had with Gracie but a parent wants a lifetime with their precious children. Love the pictures!

Hello! I've been ill for awhile and haven't checked in a couple months, but on my desk, just over the computer I have the thank you card with the three pictures of Gracie, and I think about her, and you, almost daily. She is a most beautiful little girl whose sweet spirit just bursts out when I see her pictures. Being terminally ill I think I understand how you feel about holidays. I always wonder if this is my last Thanksgiving or Christmas. I wonder if my Darien will be old enough to remember me. Either way it's hard, but a wonderful opportunity to partake of Heavenly Father's blessings as we seek Him out for comfort. God bless you and all your family.

Its hard to look at these pictures without an ache in my heart for your sweet family! The one thing that I find comfort in...is knowing that families are Eternal! The picture of you (Michele) holding your sweet little Angel is heart warming! She shares the same glow that is apparent in you! Therefore, she always remains in your heart and the hearts of those who loved her!
We think of you often! Thank you for sharing these photos of your sweet children! Heavenly Father's children whom you will cherish for Eternity! Hugs
