A Little Concerned

Yesterday morning I laid Gracie down on a blanket and looked over to see Taylor laying next to her, just talking to her. It was so cute, I had to snap a quick photo. Gracie has actually been a bit fussy over the past week and the last few nights have not been so good. She coughs and is throwing up in the middle of the night, as well as more often during the day. Sorry to get detailed but she usually has one poopy diaper during the day and has now gone to about 4-5, which has given her a diaper rash. This is abnormal for her so I called and talked to the nurse of cardiology at PCMC. She said that since I am coming in to see them in 10 days so we will just wait for that appointment and that I should call and talk to my pediatrician. (We also ruled out some other things like if it is related to taking her off her Bumex, if it was related to teething, or if she could have NEC an infection usually within the first couple weeks of life and she said no to all of those) I called Dr. Wilcox and talked to his nurse but he is out of the country until next week. So for now I will just watch her to see how she does today. I am concerned about it because I have always been told that when they go into heart failure that the blood goes to the heart, lungs and brain and that the gut gets it last. So sometimes if they are having feeding issues it can be related to heart failure. Hopefully this is just a little stomach bug that will pass within the next few days.

From one heart mom to another.....take her in! Go with your gut and if you are feeling that something is not right, take her in. I took Lindsay in a week and a half ago and she ended up having a UTI. We are now on antibiotics and doing much better.
Praying everyday for Gracie and hopefully she gets over this episode quickly.

I surely hope so. I continue to put her and your name in the temple each week when we go to work there. You remain in our prayers

I also think that you should take her in if you feel something is wrong. You can never be to save with a heart baby. Who cares if they think you are crazy. When Roman went into heart failure we had just seen the doctor 5 days before and were scheduled for surgery a week away. However, he started sleeping like 20 hours a day, not feeding very well, sweating like crazy. The sweating like crazy is what made me call the doctor because our house was air-conditioned. He had also had another tet spell. My instinct was correct. The moved his surgery up a week. However, Roman had a stomach bug like that in October. He was having 7 diapers a day, but no throwing up. Will be thinking of Gracie and say a little prayer for her.

That is such a sweet picture. She looks so big and healthy. You'd never know that her heart is not perfect. I hope she gets over her sickness and starts feeling better soon.

I sure hope it turns out to be just a bug so you can rest easier. However, if it is really worrying you, I would recommend also that you just take her in. You can never be too safe with a sweet little heart baby. I continue to think of you daily and pray that Gracie will do fabulously with her Glenn.

Dr Glade works with Dr Wilcox, they are in the same practice and he is great! He also knows ALOT about heart babies I would suggest you go see him. There is a lot of stomach bug going around also!

Love the picture & the cheeks! She is such a beautiful babydoll!

We will be praying for Gracie and hoping that everything is okay. Like the other heart moms...it's better to be safe than sorry. Please keep us posted & we'll keep praying!

No one knows Gracie like her mommy and you are not one to jump to conclusions. I think that your instincts outweigh what doctors and nurses can tell you over the phone. Take her in if you are worried and give me a call if you need someone to watch your kids or take them to school.
Love ya---

You haven't taken her in yet? You should ASAP! You are probably waiting for the kids go back to school next WEEK! Yea!

Love the pic of the kids together.. I love capturing those little moments!

Owen did the same thing at around 11 weeks old and we were admitted to PCH for 3 days and sent home and told it was a stomach bug and flu. BUT, one week later when we went in for his cath they noticed he had lousy heart function and admitted him immedietly, put him on milrinone and kept him for a week and did the Glenn early. It's so hard to know.

I guess just follow your instincts, but it can't help to run in and just have them do a quick echo to rule anything out.

Good Luck and hopefully by the time you read this, she'll be feeling fine.

You don't know me. I found you on Marc and Aimee Hardys blog for little Jackson. We are friends of theirs and I have just fallen in love with your sweet little Grace. What a beautiful little girl. We have her in our thoughts and prayers.
