Holding On

When we got here this morning, Gracie was doing really well. They had weaned her way down on the ECMO machine and she was sustaining her own pulse pressure and all her numbers looked really good. The nurses and surgeons all came in ready to take her off the ECMO machine and when they clamped it off, her numbers went way down and they had to put her back on. So, because she is doing so well on very minimal flow from the ECMO but then they take her off and she goes down, Dr. Hawkins said that he is going to go in and tighten her SANO (which is the tube they put in her heart to make it work) and also see what is going on with the cannulas that are in her heart. There are two cannulas, one in her heart and one in her aorta that are feeding her into the ECMO machine. I am surprisingly calm right now and I attibute that directly to all the fasting and prayers coming our way. So please know that you really are helping us when you pray for us. We know that this is not good news but hope that it is a blessing in disguise and that this is what it takes to find out a hidden reason as to why she is not doing well every time they take her off the ECMO. We're just holding on.................
