Surgery Day

At 7:30a.m. we kissed our sweet baby goodbye and they took her back to surgery. They are supposed to update us about every hour.

I got to hold her for about 45 minutes before they took her. She was cute as ever and was sleeping peacefully.

There's nothing quite like kissing your baby goodbye on her way to open heart surgery. We feel blessed to have her so far and look forward to having her for a long time in the future. Please say a prayer today for our little Gracie Girl. Updates will follow......

About Us

We had our fourth child March 20, 2008. She had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Gracie had her first surgery, the Norwood, at 4 days old. She was scheduled for her second surgery, the Glenn, on 2-12-09 but it was determined that her heart was too sick and the surgery would be too risky. Gracie needed a heart transplant to live. A heart became available after being listed for only THREE DAYS. She had a heart transplant on 2-22-09, we thought it was a miracle and she was finally getting some GOOD news for a change!! Unfortunately, the heart didn't work and she came out of surgery on life support (ECMO). After exhausting all possibilities to save Gracie's life, she passed away on March 2, 2009. We love our Gracie Girl and look forward to seeing her again. Families Are Forever!
