Another Good Day

Gracie is doing well again this morning. Because they took her completely off her IV milrinone drip which is for her blood pressure, her blood pressure went a little high. They are giving her another kind of blood pressure medication through her feeding tube now. The plastic surgeon came by early this morning and looked at her chest wound. The nurse said that the surgeon cut away all the fat (he had previously taken the scab off a few days earlier). This I guess promotes better healing. They are having the 'wound care team' come by and put a wound vac on her chest. Apparently it is a tube connected to a little machine that sits on the floor and continuously kind of suctions the wound and helps it heal. Very interesting. On her hi-pressure nose cannula--she is down from a 6 to a 4 with 2 being the lowest. They go down a half a point every six hours. So if things continue to go well, she will be off of it by tomorrow. At that point, they will switch her to just oxygen and then wean her down off of that. They are also coming down on her methadone. Whew! Did you get all that? It sounds like if she continues to do well, we will move to the third floor Monday or Tuesday. So our sweetie girl is doing really good. Thanks for all of your continued prayers on our behalf--we are grateful for all of our blessings.

FYI. The wound Vac works AWESOME!!! They used that as a last ditch effort to help Kaidence's VAD site infection heal and it was two BIG Nasty holes That had to also be cut away and cleaned. I think they were suprised at how well it worked. Good Luck with it. It made all the difference for Kaidence and her scars actually look much better than anyone expected.
Way to go Gracie!!!

With Hope and Love,

That is just AMAZING. This whole thing is a MIRACLE. I'm assuming the third floor for less critical babies? Going down a floor sounds good...2nd floor, 1st floor, out the door!!!! What a good day.

We are so glad that Gracie continues to improve and do well. She is such a beautiful baby in body and spirit and we're so blessed to experience this miracle with you! My brother (Kent) entered the Primary Children's fun run race this morning and ran with a picture of Gracie on his shirt. He took first place so I figure that's a really good sign!!! Keep up the good get well pace sweet girl!
