A Room With a View

We have moved beds again and are now in bed 15. We have a window for the first time in 8 weeks. It's amazing what little things you come to appreciate. They moved her last night so she could be in a better spot for the nurse to take care of two patients at the same time. She is doing really well. Yesterday she was quite fussy and I was a little worried but she seems to be better today. She is on a regular nasal cannula with a little bit of pressure. She is tolerating it well. They are taking extreme baby steps with her because they want her to succeed. They just changed her wound vac and the plastic surgeon came by and said that it looked good. We are just watching and waiting. They said that the third floor is in our near future!

She's come such a long way from having two nurses just for her to now having to share one...such great news! Good thing you'll be able to see some of the sunshine that we are finally going to get this weekend. The third floor will be great, but I think that "home" is also now in your very near future. Good luck! We love you all so much!!!!

Yeah for baby steps! We weren't allowed to say the H-word in the NICU. They called it Going Out for Pizza or Taking her to the Zoo (very appropriate for our house)...don't want to jinx it! :)

Such good news!! Better to slowly make progress then to make it quick and then fall back. Way to go Gracie. She will be "going to the zoo" before we know it!

Won't it be nice when instead of gazing out of the hospital window at the world outside, you can stand outside with Gracie and gaze in. Third floor and then home. Good luck

Hi - I heard of you from Kim Brown. My son has Hypo Plastic Right Heart. He is 15. He had a surgery right after birth, one at 3, and one at 14. We will have another in a couple of months. My heart hurts for you. I know how you feel. May I say, that this child will always have a special place in your heart that is just different than the others. You will find that her spirit is old and the Lord chose her to have this problem because of her greatness. Our son has show wisdon that surpasses his years. Our surgeon is Dr. Hawkins. We are guessing you have the same. We love him. Hang in there. We live close so if you need anything! Best wishes. Laurel Hill

I am glad to hear you have a window. There is something to be said for sunshine on your face. Maybe Gracie will enjoy her glimpses of the beautiful surroundings awaiting her. We will praying for her this week and hope that these baby steps build up to something great!
