Like I had mentioned before, the only thing keeping us in the PICU is Gracie's wound vac. They cannot administer the meds that are required for the dressing changes on the third floor. This afternoon, I talked to the PICU doctor and he said he talked to the plastic surgeon this morning about it. He said that the surgeon said if the wound looked good, then he would take the dressing off and plan to do a SKIN GRAFT!! I had never heard that this was a possibility until today. No one had ever mentioned it before. Every time they have changed her dressing, the surgeon has come by and said that it looked good and that was it. I was pretty upset by this. They would have to take skin from another part of her body and graft it onto the 'hole' on her chest. The area is about the size of a 50 cent piece. They would have to take her down to the operating room and either heavily sedate her or put her breathing tube back in and completely put her under!!!!!!!!!!! If they do this, I may be checking out. Somebody else will have to fill in for me at the hospital for a few days because I don't think I can handle another setback. She has been doing so well and things have been great. The plastic surgeon is coming by in the morning for the dressing change and will make the decision then. So let's hope that she does not have to have this procedure.
My Gracie is 2 months old today!! Happy Birthday BABY! I wish we could go home. There is a small light at the end of the tunnel.

Hang in there Michele!! You are an amazing mom. Keep your spirits up and know that we are all still praying for your family and Gracie's success. This is one of my favorite pictures of her because she's propped up more, like a 2 month old should be right, and her face is just adorable and looks so sweet in this picture. We love you guys, The Skousens
That is my new favorite picture of your sweet baby!! In clothes, sitting up, looking right at the camera! What a sweetie! I am so sorry to hear that you might face another surgery and I can imagine your frustration. Tonight we will pray that it will not be the case in the morning. However, if she does have to go under again... I am confident she'll come out of it with even more of the strength from heaven that she's received every time!
Oh, she's looking so grown up! Her hair is really filling in...she'll be in ponytails before you know it!
Happy 2 months Borthday Gracie..
Praying for good news..as a mom my heart goes out to you.
Hugs
Gracie looks so grown up in this picture!! We are still praying every night for this little girl and hope she continues to heal.
I'm sure the speech therapy will help her learn to swallow and hopefully she won't have to have that skin graft..poor little thing.
We love you guys,
Kristi M
Feeding seemed to be the most frustrating part for us (and getting off pain meds). Even still when I watch our now 16 month old eat it just amazes me! He can eat any kid under the table. They (therapists, nurses, surgeons, docs) all warned us about eating disorders and weightloss issues. I assured them eating would not be a problem in MY FAMILY! Ha ha ha!
Yikes...no procedure please!! We'll be praying for ya!
Hang in there cute Momma!!!
((HUGS))
She looks so sweet and so adorable. I can see why you can't stand the thought of her having another procedure. You know I'd "fill in" for you anytime. Love you guys. Susan
Happy Two Month Birthday to our beautiful Gracie Girl! Two months of pure joy just for life itself. You've made small moments seem as though they were weeks or even months. Your struggles have inspired hundreds if not thousands of prayers that have literally paved the path for your future and in some way ours as well. The peaceful gaze that those who are lucky enough to see creates a love in others that is hard to explain or describe. We love you Gracie Girl and look forward to many more such birthdays.

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry about the news of a skin graft. We will pray for baby Gracie, but also for you...for extra strength, no matter what may come your way. You're so sweet. We're full of hope that she won't have to have this done. :)
Hang in there!! I put Gracie on the prayer roll last night-we will send up a few extra paryers for her (and you Michele!!) Thanks for letting me visit Gracie-she is so beautiful! It was great to see you too Michele-YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
Oh I just love her, and this picture is so cute! She does look really grown up. I can't believe she's never been outside!! Tell her to not be so naughty and get better faster so she can be home where so belongs. Michele, you just tell them you are leaving soon so hurry and do whatever it is they have to do to make that happen! We love you Gracie, Happy Birthday!
Love,
Aunt Ninny
Happy 2 month birthday Gracie girl. You look so cute in this picture. We will keep our fingers crossed that you don't have to have the plastic surgery. You remain in our prayers.
Happy Birthday Sweet Gracie! Oh I hope you won't have to have the surgery. I can't imagine how frustring that would be. Hang in there Michele! You are the best mom!!! We'll be praying for you and Miss Gracie!

Michele,
So sorry to hear about your awful surprise. Hang in there. You have been amazingly strong and your Gracie has benefitted from your positivity and strength. She looks amazing. You have been through so much and come out on top...we'll continue to cheer for you.
All the best.
I sure hope that they do not have to do a sick graft on little Gracie. Eden's wound did not heal up as I would have liked, but she did not have a graft, it is just healing like a wound. Michele, you are such an inspiration to me of your faith and positive attitude. I know how hard this is and with each set back it can get worse. You are doing so well and although I don't know you, I think of you often and feel a connection to you through our amazing babies.
Keisa (Eden's mommy)
I do not blame you for wanting to check out for that. Setbacks are so hard when you feel like things are finally moving forward. But it is one step closer after to getting her home. We are proud of little Gracie and all she has accomplished in such a short time! Keep up the hard work Miss Gracie!
Hugs,
Mike and Emily
Oh, my! Hang in there! She has done SO well and has come SO far. Ya'll have been so brave and strong, don't give up now. We'll continue to pray that her wound will heal without another procedure. Thanks again for all you've done for us!

What a sweet picture! What a little beauty Gracie is!! You guys have just been through so much...and have experienced so many miracles. Hang in there! We are still praying for you all each day. And each day is one day closer to taking her home!!
Happy 2 months! :)
Tom and Michelle,
We will definately pray that a skin graft is NOT needed. Prayer has accomplished a great deal for little Gracie so far. Hang in there guys. Look how far she has come. Should the answer to prayer be that a skin graft is needed, how wonderful that it can even be done. Let me know if I can help with that "check out" day.
Harry
The swallow test sounds like good news. It will likely be a slow process but it sounds very positive. I hope the plastic surgeon brings positive news too. We will pray extra hard for you guys today! Hang in there - you've all been so strong and amazing! We are wishing you all the best news and the quickest progress possible to get Gracie Girl home!
Love,
Melissa
I can't believe that they want to do yet anther procedure on that little angel! If it was me I would do everything possible to not have to have her intubated again! You are in my prayers and I really hope that what every they choose to do goes smoothly and that little Gracie will heal fast! Good luck!

She just gets cuter and cuter every single day! I can't even stand it!!! I hope that she doesn't have to be put under again, just for your sanity's sake. She's pulled through so much already and I have a good feeling about her coming "H" soon! We will continue to pray for lot's more good news and a quick/successful transition to the 3rd floor. A big hug to you...hang in there my friend.
Love ya, Leslie
