Taylor's Turn

It is a beautiful Sunday outside AND inside the hospital today. Gracie is still doing well. We brought Taylor with us for his 'one on one' time with mom and dad and Gracie too. He was really excited to hold her again. The first time in 6 weeks. As you can see, Gracie is doing pretty well taking a binky. Which is a good sign because these babies typically have an aversion to things going in their mouth because of all the suctioning that has been done as well as the breathing tube being in their mouth.

When we got here this morning, her heart rate was up and they had just given her a dose of morphine because she was not coming back down and was very agitated. The nurse said that this is a typical babies reaction to coming down off their pain medication. My baby is a little drug addict!! So they came back up on the pain meds and will wean her off a LOT slower as to avoid another reaction like this morning.

They are still telling us that we are moving to the third floor (the floor that they move the 'better' babies to) either tomorrow or Tuesday. I am excited and scared at the same time. We will have our own room with a bathroom, a place for me to sleep. a tv with video games for my kids and they will allow food in there too! BUT, I will also have to learn how to do most of her care which is a little scary. I think the third floor is the floor where the mothers are weaned off of their nurses!

Church here was wonderful again. Our nurses were joking with us that once we get home, we are going to 'pretend' to have a doctor's appointment every Sunday morning at 10:30 so we can keep going to the 30 minute version of church.
They are weighing Gracie every day now and today she weighed 8.5 pounds. She has finally surpassed her birth weight. I hope she continues to gain. This is a big thing with heart babies. Their weight also determines when they will have their second surgery. We are told they want them to be around 12 pounds for that one.
I will post tomorrow. Thanks to so many people who have supported us in this whole ordeal. Our lives have been changed from your service to our family.
p.s. I have to say a special thank you to the Bown Family. It was nice to meet you today and we are overwhelmed by your generosity!! We have been inspired to be better people from the love and friendship that has been shown to us by people who do not even know us. Thank You!

I meant to say "girly-girl" binky. Oh well, you get the idea. Oh, and Taylor looks so happy holding her, too, and she looks really content. That brother-sister bond is amazing, isn't it! Love you guys, Susan

What a beautiful picture of Taylor and Gracie. I did not even know about the PCMC branch. It would have been nice, since it would have meant more time to spend with Ryker. Good luck moving to the third floor. It will be nice in some ways and harder in easier ways then what Gracie had gone through. Ryker too was an "addict", so don't worry!
Continued prayers and hugs,

What beautiful pictures! Who would ever guess all that she has been through this past month and a half? I'm so excited (and nervous)for your big move. It will be a big adjustment, but you are not alone. And even though a lot of hard work is ahead of you, it's got to feel so much better than the helplessness you felt just a few weeks ago. You can do it - and we will help. Hey, isn't that a Home Depot commercial? :) Good luck and congratulations!

How special for Taylor to get one on one time with not only you and Tom, but with his sweet sister too! She looks adorable with her binky - it looks much better than tubes and tape! I'm so glad she's doing so well and hope the move to the third floor goes smoothly!

Love,
