Moving to Bed 3

Well, it was moving day for Gracie. We moved out of our 'presidential suite' (our own private room) in bed 7 to bed 3, the same one we were in when Gracie was 3 days old. It is a lot noisier here and a lot less private. But we are told that this is a good sign that she is moving to a space where less care is needed. They sent blood cultures out today and yesterday and so far they have come back negative which means that the antibiotics are working. Very good news. The plan now is to watch and see if she continues to get better from her infection and to wean her off her high flow nose cannula. If she cannot come off her high flow, they will attribute that to her diaphragm still being partially paralyzed. If this is the case, they will do surgery to essentially pull her diaphragm down and make it easier for her to breathe. The ICU doctor made it sound like that surgery is not to big of a deal compared to what she has had done so far. However, let's pray that it will resolve itself and she will not have to deal with this. The IV in her right leg stopped working so they had to put a new one in her left leg. Poor baby, but they got it on the first try. I got to hold her for a long time which was lovely. She really likes being held. So, let's hope for some nice 'boring' days over the weekend.

p.s. it has been brought to my attention that some people think our occasional nick name for Gracie, 'Geeg' is pronounced like Geek with a g instead of a k. This makes me laugh. We pronounce it JEEEEJ, but spell it Geeg because it's short for GG which is short for Gracie Gledhill. Clear as mud? I thought so!

That is good news. Hopefully that move is followed by another move and then another move, until she fines her way home, with her family!
Lots of hugs,

So happy she is a step closer to a new floor, and hopefully home shortly after. Its been a real blessing for me personally, and my family, to follow Gracie and your family through the ups and downs of this trial. Thank you for sharing so openly and honestly. She's just precious and I'm sure soon you will all be united, at home, as one big, happy family!

Happy Mother's Day!

I've been out of town but I hurried and checked in to see how you are all doing. It sounds like things are going good. She is so cute. I love the picture of you holding her!

I've been out and going all day and I couldn't wait to come home and read about your day today. I sure pray that she doesn't need to be opened up again and her breathing improves. What an amazing group of doctors and nurses! Her picture from yesterday is nothing short of BEAUTIFUL! What a little sweetheart. So glad to hear that she is loving being held as much as you are loving finally being able to hold her. Can't wait for my turn someday! Have a great night and a wonderful weekend together.

Baby steps are good. At least they are in the right direction. Thanks for clarifying her nickname. I was reading it as geek with a g. I must say it sounds better now that I know how it is really said :) Have a great mothers day!!!
