Here is our Gracie Girl in her first article of clothing EVER!! I asked the nurses yesterday if I could start putting her in clothes and they did not see why not. I had to make sure it was an outfit that snapped up the front so that her wound vac could poke out the side. (Thanks Suzi for the cute outfits!) She is looking, feeling and acting more and more like a normal baby. She is awake more now and will just hang out and look around. She will focus on me and almost muster up a smile but it turns out to be more like a happy expression than a real smile.
They have changed her back to my regular milk!! No more fat free. They have given her regular milk for a couple of days now and her x-ray this morning did not show any signs of the Chylothorax coming back. So this is great news. She is on a regular nose cannula now and doing well. They changed her wound vac today too and that is also looking better.
The only thing keeping her in the PICU right now is her wound vac. They always give Gracie a little but of pain medication right before they change her wound vac. Apparently they cannot administer those drugs to her up on the third floor, at least not to a Hypoplast. So they are debating whether or not to send us to the third floor and then just have her come down for a few hours on M/W/F for her wound vac change. We will wait and see how long the plastic surgeon wants to keep her wound vac on and that will determine if they move us or not.
Gracie gets her swallow study done tomorrow. What they do for this is they put a little bit of dye in a thin liquid and a nectar type liquid and then watch her through a moving x-ray to see how her body tolerates it. They can see whether or not she has reflux, or whether she aspirates her food into her lungs. It is supposed to be pretty interesting to watch. We will then know what to do with feedings depending on how she does.
So our little miracle baby continues to improve! Thanks for all of your continued prayers and support.

What wonderful steps she is making! I love the outfit! What a doll! It would be nice to get off the PICU and into your own room on the third floor! And yeah to Momma's milk! Who could ask for better?! Hopefully the swallow study goes well and she could start to be fed like a normal baby! Good luck Gracie!

the Gourleys
She looks so lovely. I love the outfit. Jacob didn't wear clothes until the day I brought him home because I never thought to ask!
I hope you are able to move to the 3rd floor soon. I am so glad she is improving. I hope all goes well with the swallow study!

She is doing so well. Just so you know, I am always thinking of her and you up at PCMC. You are "supermom" and she is "wondergirl". Her outfit is so cute...and if I know you...she'll have plenty more cute ones to come!
Very Nice...
Way to go Geeg
Yeah! So fun to see her in the outfit. I'm glad it still fits! Finally wearing clothes! aaahhh One more step to being a "normal" baby---whatever that is. :) I bet she won't fit in the outfit for long when she can finally have "mommy milk". We'll keep praying and keep our fingers crossed that all goes well with the swallow test.
Just when you think she can't get any cuter...you go and post these photos of her with cute clothes and a headband. What a beautiful little sweetheart! I don't know how you keep yourself from squishing her all day long!! She's still on my mind every single day and I pray that all goes well with the many little procedures that she has coming up. I hope to be able to come up and see her soon! Lots of hugs to all of you from all of us!

Finally:)---You know me, my favorite part of little babies is dressing them up in their cute little outfits! I bet it's so fun to see her in a little PINK! I'm with Leslie, just when you think she can't get any cutier she is dolled up in pink! Our family is still praying for her (Ally still prays for her surgery--I'm hoping Heavenly Father is saving them for surgery #2) XOXOX

Happy Two Month Birthday to our beautiful Gracie Girl! Two months of pure joy just for life itself. You've made small moments seem as though they were weeks or even months. Your struggles have inspired hundreds if not thousands of prayers that have literally paved the path for your future and in some way ours as well. The peaceful gaze that those who are lucky enough to see creates a love in others that is hard to explain or describe. We love you Gracie Girl and look forward to many more such birthdays.
