Gracie is doing really well. They are weaning her off her high flow oxygen and talking about moving her to the third floor tomorrow. She still has yet to smile even ONCE since she's been in the hospital. But I have noticed in the past that if she is feeling the least bit crummy, she doesn't smile. And I would have to say that she still has plenty to feel crummy about!!
From here on out I will probably only post if something important happens. Although you just never know when you are going to wake up to a post that Gracie got a new heart during the night!!! I asked the transplant coordinator if there is a typical time of day that donor hearts become available and she said a lot of times it happens in the evening or night time. This is because the donor is usually on life support that they turn off in the late afternoon after the family has had enough time to say their goodbyes. It makes me sad to even type this information. But what a wonderful thing that family will be doing for not only Gracie, but many other families that will use the other organs if they choose to donate more than just the heart. We will be eternally grateful to them.
Maybe our next post will be from our new 'digs' on the third floor!

HAPPY 11 MONTHS GRACIE GIRL! What an amazing 11 months she has had. She'll smile as soon as the Vitamin M (milrinone) really kicks in. It's the magic drug!
We're always praying for Gracie!!
Happy 11 month Birthday Gracie!
She is adorable.
Hope she gets a new Heart for her
first Birthday.
Love, The Gleason's
It feels good to see her somewhat at peace in this picture. Happy birthday baby girl!
She looks so cute! 11 months, wow, what crazy months those have been. This next month will be the most important of her life. We pray every day that the parents who are faced with the difficult decision to donate their child's organs will find the strength and peace to do so. Until then, keep fighting Gracie!!!
Well this isn't the best way to spend her time while preparing for her 1st birthday but on the other hand, maybe she is leading up to a really exciting first birthday!! She looks so sweet sleeping. Our prayers are with you, Gracie and the families out there that are making difficult decisions at this time.
Happy Birthday Gracie! We hope your birthday wishes come true. Prayers & Hugs.
I am Paul Cardall's mother. He has sent your blog on to me. I know exactly how you are feeling from one who has been there and is there now with our wait for a new heart for Paul. Just know that you are being watched over from above. The Lord is there and loves us, knows us and wants the best for His children. What that is, we don't know, but I know that He is in charge. Our best to you from all the family of Paul Cardall.
Happy Birthday Gracie! She looks so peaceful in that picture with her favorite blanky. Glad to hear they are weaning her down on the oxygen. Looks like the third floor will soon be home - at least it won't have the constant noise of the PICU. Yikes it was noisy in there! Take care. I'll see you Friday!
She looks so peaceful when she is asleep. Hopefully she'll start feeling a little better soon and you'll see her smile again!
I know what you mean about the third floor. It is hard to go there after you are used to the PICU. When Jax was there they didn't have any room where the usually put the heart babies so they stuck him in a random room (can't remember what area). Anyway there were only older kids (like teenagers) around so the nurses set up shop in his room most every night and would do all there work from there. I felt really blessed that they were taking extra good care of him. I guess they were excited to have a baby to take care of.
Happy 11 months Gracie girl... we are hoping and praying for a new heart soon.
