Another Day

Well, this morning Gracie's drainage tube came out and they had to put a new one in, in a new spot. They mostly saw air in the fluid pocket on her x-ray. They have only gotten out about 12 cc's of drainage from this new tube. The nurse said the only way to get the air out is to put in a new tube. When they put the new tube in, there is always some bleeding inside. She is on heparin, a blood thinner for her blood clot. Because of the heparin, she bled out her mouth and nose with the new tube procedure. It's a little disconcerting to see blood on her breathing tube tape. They have given her a paralytic to keep her still for several hours because of the bleeding and everything else. So she has just been completely asleep for hours. They are going to do an x-ray at 4:00 to see how the pocket of fluid looks.

It seems like these procedures never end for little Gracie, but I know she is so strong and resilient that she can handle it. I'll just keep in my mind the picture of you holding her and a prayer in my heart for her. Love, Susan

Poor little one. One day it will all be over and she will be at home laughing and playing with you. Here is to that day!

Someone asked me about Gracie in Target today. I said she likes to take two steps forward and 1 step back. Looks like we are due for 2 steps forward!!! Hopefully there will be no more steps back. Keep fighting Gracie. We love you.

Slow and steady wins the race...that's what I always say, unfortunaly there are hard bumps along the way but she is such a fighter-she can do it! I'm sorry you have to see and experience all her hardships as well. Hope they get the kinks worked out and she is better tomorrow! XOXOX
