Well, we had another nail biter today. The surgeons worked on her for over an hour. They had to put a new central line in that goes directly into her heart, because the other one had come out. They washed her chest out and they closed her up just a little bit and put a smaller patch on. It is always very nerve wracking to watch two surgeons working on your daughter. We saw her heart rate spike into the 200's a couple of times and they had to administer a drug to help that number to come down. She has basically been asleep ever since then and looks really good as you can tell from the above picture.
She had too much swelling for them to completely close her chest today. Dr. K said that we will continue to try and get some more fluids off of her and then try to close her chest on Friday.
You can't really tell from the picture but I think Gracie had a spa treatment last night with the night nurse. I came in to a new blue and yellow bow on her head and her hair was all fluffy and clean. Very cute.
We anticipate Wednesday and Thursday to be fairly quiet days. Friday will be stressful again. On Sunday, a week and a half ago, Dr. Hawkins, the one who tried to take her off ECMO after 5 days said that we had two major things ahead of us. First, for her to come off ECMO. And second, to get her chest closed.
Have a good night, we will post again tomorrow sometime.

We continue to pray for your family. She is a miracle, and I hope they will be able to get the fluid off her. They had a hard time getting Ryker's fluid off and closing his heart. Our thoughts go out to your family and your little miracle!
I love that she got a spa treatment. I love the fluffy little newborn hair! She is too cute! I love little Gracie. Somehow she reminds me to be a better mom. Thanks cute Gracie! I hope you continue to get better.

I am sure all the nurses just love her. I think it is obvious with the spa treatment....how fun!! She looks so good what a strong little girl.

Good night sweet little baby girl! Sleep tight and get lots of rest so your little body can continue to heal and improve. We all can't wait to see you at home with your brothers and sister where you belong. Sweet dreams...
I've been in NY for the last 5 days and haven't had access to internet although I've been calling my sister-in-law EVERYDAY and have her check your blog and read it to me over the phone. I just want you guys to know that I think about you everyday and feel so connected to this process however distant I really am. I always pray for you and feel an overwhleming sense of relief when I see all this good news. Hope all goes well this week.
I'm so sorry ya'll got kicked out of your space - so sad! And I agree, the "privacy" issue would kind of get to you afterwhile. All of the nurses have probably learned a lot from watching your great example though.
I cannot wait until I hear that you get to hold Gracie again. I'm sure you want to put your arms around her and squeeze her so tight! She is making great progress..another day down!!
Her coloring looks so good & I love that she had a "spa treatment." I'm so glad everything went well when they put in a new central line and we'll continue praying for Friday. Now it's time for YOUR spa treatment while things are slow. Thanks for keeping us updated. We think about you guys all the time.
Jessica (Tiffany's cousin)
We are soooo glad Gracie is still fighting hard! I have a new respect for nurses and what they do. Michele - I agree that you should be next with the spa treatment. I volunteer to go along with you! Hope the next few days are nice and boring and that Friday they can close her up and all will be well.
Love you all!
Natalie and Alan
