Tough Cookie

I got here this morning and Gracie is still doing well. She had a good night and continues to improve. For today, they are going to continue to try and wean her off some of her medications, they are still focusing on her lungs and trying to get them to clear up. Dr. K is going to come by later this afternoon and open her chest, clean it out and make a smaller patch to sew back on her. They want her swelling to go down before they can close her up all together. She seems to have turned the corner yesterday and is not needing anymore 'volume' to keep her stable. When you're sick, your vessels leak and so they have to give 'volume' to help her sustain her blood pressure. Yesterday she seemed to turn the corner and does not need anymore volume and she is tolerating them turning down all of her meds. Now, we will need her to just continue to get rid of all her extra fluid so her swelling can go down. I brought her a CD player with some instrumental lullabies to help drown out all the hospital noise!! She is still cute, and is really fighting. You go Gracie girl, keep fighting!! (Dr. K's nurse came in and called her a tough cookie, she really is!)

Dear Gledhill Family,
I have learned of your family's journey through a friend of a friend. I have cried many many tears for Gracie & your family. I am so impressed with your strength and testimonies. You have a beautiful family that has really touched me. Gracie and I share the same birthday. March 20, 2008 was the first day of spring. A day of new life. Find comfort in knowing that so many people that you don't know are constantly praying for Gracie. May Our Father in Heaven continue to grant your beautiful Gracie and your family with the miracles you stand in need of.
Warmest Regards,
Camille

Go Gracie Girl Go!
That's our cheer for you!
I'm sure that music is a welcomed addition to the PICU. BTW, I love your taste in music, from your blog playlist. There have many days this past week that it is playing in the background in our house. The Gledhill family is a part of our daily life these days!:)
May our continued prayers be with you,
Teresa in VA

We are so happy for you and your family. Please know that you continue to be in our prayers. Those lungs take time to work themselves out. Keep being strong and have a HAPPY day. I hope she likes her music. Kaidence loved to listen to hers and the nurses loved it for her blood pressure. The cd "A Childs Prayer" was one of our favorites. Good luck.
With Hope and love,

What a difference a week makes. I was just thinking about last Monday and how the bottom seemed to be falling out. Spending the morning with Gracie yesterday and seeing her improvement was just wonderful. You mom and I slept all the way through last night and woke up this morning with renewed hope and energy for Gracie Jean. Miracle's do happen, and we have been watching one since Friday at 3:07 when she was taken off ECMO. Thousands of prayers and the belief we have in Heavenly Fathers ability to work miracle's are indeed working today. Gracie girl, you keep fighting and we will keep the faith in you.
Gary

Max asked me this morning if I knew how long Gracie had been off the ECMO. I said I think almost 3 days. He said yes, but I know exactly how many hours - 55 hours and 2 minutes! It was great to see him so excited about how well Gracie is doing. You all are continually in our thoughts and prayers. love - Amy

Such wonderful news. I can't wait to meet her when we finally move back to Utah. Then Grace, Sadie & Kelsey can all play together. I hope she continues to improve and beat the odds so this can come true. I want to spoil her! Want anything from Europe?

We're still checking on you and praying for you Gracie!

Our youngest (#6) was a preemie and in the NICU for a month. I know how difficult it is to be torn between the ones at home and the one at the hospital. We're praying for you too Mom & Dad.

Much love from strangers in Mesa, AZ!

I'm with Stephanie, I think I will eat a few(dozen) cookies in honor of Gracie! I lost 2 lbs last week I think from the stress of your sweet baby, so now she is doing better, I'm sure I'll gain 5 lbs (you know, eating cookies in her honor!)all for a good cause, it's my way of being supportive! She is one tough cookie! I am still amazed at how well she is doing, I just smile everytime I think about it! Thanks for the update:)

Michele, Gracie is so lucky to have a mom that can keep her head in such stressful times and remember to do the little things or in this case the big things like bringing a touch of Gracie's home (the music) to her at the hosital. Sending love and prayers from the Lewis family.

Mushy and Tom-

I am so happy to hear that your baby girl is as tough as nails! You know she comes by it rightfully! I am so happy that you have the blog availible for all of us to stay up dated, I know that one of the frist things out of my mouth when I talk to Shawna is if she has read Gracie's blog, and what it says. Please know that you and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers.
XOXOXOXO
