They said it took about 10 seconds to get the feeding tube right in the correct spot. They have started feeding her milk again and will not try to trial her off the ventilator again until 8:00p.m. She is sleeping peacefully now and will hopefully have a good night.

Good thing it was only a few seconds...poor little girl! Kiss her a lot!
Oh Michelle! Today I was thinking about you and Gracie as I ate lunch at Subway.
It reminded me of last year when my daughter Elizabeth was in the NICU. One night my hubby and I stopped at Subway for sandwiches on our way to the hospital to see her. They didn't have any small lids to fit on my cup of water. I broke down and started crying! I had to make my hubby ask for a lid because I knew I looked like a nutcase. Post-partum hormones and baby in the hospital do not mix well.
Still praying for you all :)

Oh Michele (and Gracie) - I am so sorry you have had such a hard day! Hopefully all of her feeding tube problems have been resolved now. That is exciting that they are starting to trial her off the ventilator. Then she can have a real binky - not just a cut-up fake one. Good luck with the trial off the ventilator tonight. You are always in our thoughts and prayers! P.S. I love your pretty toes Gracie! Love Natalie
Gracie has had a rough day. Hopefully she get good rest and then do well off the vent. Tomorrow will be better now that her feeding tube is in the right spot.
Sweet baby, sure hope she does well when they trial her off the vent. She is such a sweetie, hopefully she will get a good nights rest and all will be better tomorrow. xoxox
Sweet baby girl. She's just so tired from all the poking, prodding, gagging, etc. that she doesn't have the energy today to breathe on her own. I'm sure she'll do better once she gets some rest and can muster her strength again. We'll be praying for her to be able to get that ventilator out really soon! Have a great night -- all of you!

Abbey made you a card, but wanted me to write it on your blog. I had to spell it like she did, it was just to cute. She looks at Gracie everyday on your blog. Nick prays for Gracie every night. I asked him one day if he forgot anyone after he said amen, he said GRACIE! and made sure he blessed her to get better. Gracie has so many people praying for her (and you). I hope during these hard days you can somehow feel everyones compassion for you. I know its hard, the PICU can get you down. If you could add pictures to these comments I would put a picture mom took of me with a look of horror on my face as I was watching Gracie try to cough. She looks so uncomfortable sometimes, it is hard to watch. It will be nice to get rid of that vent! I have a feeling this week will bring better days! Just hold on a little longer.
Come on baby Gracie! Breath, we know you can do it! I agree with the others and I am sure after she gets some rest she will be good to go! We will all keep praying for this miracle baby!
Poor little one! Sending good thoughts your way...
What a rough day yesterday. Today is bound to be better. They had a bit on the news last night about the popularity of blogging and highlighted a 12 month old at Primary Children's whose parents use blogging to communicate with family and friends. It was a neat story and a reminder that it is such a blessing to be able to watch Gracie from a distance and to see her successes and the milestones that she has passed. Thanks!!
It was a rough day but hopefully you all got good rest and Gracie will do well today. Last night Morgan said our closing prayer for FHE. It consisted of three lines - "Bless baby Gracie to get better soon. Thanks for family night songs. Bless there will be new pictures of Gracie tommorrow." It was the sweetest prayer and I was so grateful that your sweet baby girl has touched my baby girl in such a profound way. I hope today is a much better day now that the feeding tube is in the right spot and that trialing her off the ventilator will go well. We'll continue to pray for Sweet Gracie!
Love,

It may seem silly to take advice from a perfect stranger but when I was going through all sorts of medical stuff with one of my daughters, I really had to focus on "one day at a time". It helped to buoy my spirits to focus on the little good things that happened each day no matter how small. And to force myself to just focus on the day at hand and not to let myself get overwhelmed with the big picture. The song "Count Your Blessings" was a constant source of comfort to me. You have an amazing attitude and just know that you have many people who really do care about you and your sweet family. Take care!
It is so sad seeing your child cry or upset while on a ventilator. We will be praying for little Gracie to get off the ventilator soon. You are a great mommy. Gracie is so lucky to be blessed with such an amazing family!
We are praying for more 'boring days'. It's much easier to read without tears in my eyes. Sweet baby Gracie has incredible strength, and now a cute pedicure to go with it! :)
We are still praying for you! You are amazing, Michelle. My baby only spent 4 days in NICU and had to have a spinal and eventhough they say that your baby won't remember, it is TOO hard to watch your baby be in pain and uncomfortable. We hope you have a good day and boring day :-)
